Abernethy Laurels is a continuing care retirement community located in Newton, NC.
Yesterday was about celebrating our team and the excellent care they provide! To acknowledge a job well done in our recent state survey, we served a @chickfila meal to folks on all three shifts! We're grateful for every one of them, and their hard work was reflected during the survey. We also handed out Great Place to Work US t-shirts to acknowledge our certification for a fifth year. Did you know it's #NationalIceCreamMonth? This afternoon, our Employee Commitment & Connection Team hosted an ice cream social featuring homemade ice cream churned by our employees! Team members were invited to sample each flavor and vote for their favorite. While black cherry, chocolate frosty, peach, strawberry cheesecake, and snow cream vanilla were worthy contenders in a close race, Butterfinger came out on top! Congratulations to Jennifer Burgin, our nursing staffing and retention coordinator, for creating the winning entry! National Therapeutic Recreation Week wraps up today! The observance is intended to raise awareness of therapeutic recreation programs and services that could improve the health and well-being of individuals with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. In practice, recreational therapists treat and help maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their clients by seeking to reduce depression, stress, and anxiety; recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities; build confidence; and socialize effectively.
