Residents, visitors, or staff can honor Abernethy Laurels employees for providing excellent customer service by filling out a WOW card. Out of all the monthly cards, a WOW winner is selected for special recognition.
This month, medication aide Lisa Houston is our spotlight employee. Lisa was nominated by an Abernethy employee who stated, โ€œWhether Lisa serves as a CNA or a medication aide, she puts the patients first! Lisa cares about the patients and will do anything she can for them. I admire and look up to Lisa and the compassion she has for others.โ€
Lisa has been a CNA for approximately 32 years and has served on the Abernethy team for 12 years. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Lisa shared, โ€œI have great co-workers โ€“ they are the best CNAs and nurses! Some may say I missed my calling as a nurse, but I think God has put me where he needs me. When you work in long-term care, you must have empathy, patience, and understanding. It can be a difficult job, but if you have love in your heart, you can conquer anything!"
Thanks, Lisa, for your hard work and dedication! #abernethylaurels #everyage #EmployeeAppreciation #employeespotlight

In a quick 24 hours, we collected a flatbed cart of supplies for Hurricane Helene victims. A volunteer from the airport initiative came right away to collect these items and will continue to pick them up as donations come in. The volunteer effort (including the pilots) is making it possible for planes to fly out of the Lincoln County Regional Airport and get the collected items to people in need very quickly. They're averaging 70-80 flights and 10-15 truck deliveries every day! If you'd like to donate, please drop off supplies at either of our main entrances! #abernethylaurels #hurricanehelene #helpforwesternnc #donationsneeded #NCStrong ... See MoreSee Less
