National Assisted Living Week takes place from September 8-14 this year. Since 1995, the observance has offered a chance for residents, families, staff, volunteers, and the greater community to come together and create activities and events that pay tribute to assisted living residents, whether they're seniors or people living with disabilities. The observance also offers an opportunity to recognize the men and women who provide care in assisted living communities. This year's theme is "Inspiring Generations," which honors the different generations of people who work and live in assisted living communities. #NALW #assistedliving #seniorliving #everyage

Residents, visitors, or staff can honor Abernethy Laurels employees for providing excellent customer service by filling out a WOW card. Out of all the monthly cards, a WOW winner is selected for special recognition.
This month, receptionist Carleen Jarrett is our spotlight employee. Carleen was nominated by an Abernethy team member, who stated, “Carleen always goes above and beyond to help people. She’s always patient and kind...she steps up to help whenever needed.”
Carleen has been a receptionist on the Abernethy team for approximately 20 years. She excels at customer service, answering guest inquiries, directing phone calls, and coordinating calendar events.
When Carleen is not hard at work she enjoys spending time with her family, working in her flower garden, and reading.
When asked what she likes about being an Abernethy employee, Carleen shared, “Abernethy Laurels is a great place to work! Everyone is so kind and caring. The residents and staff are wonderful, and it has a family atmosphere.”
